Knot quiz #12

We’ve reach the last knot in this year’s quiz. As you can see from the variety of knots, keeping everything together is important. Answers will be posted soon.

Time and tide… last day at sea

Winds today were forecast to be lighter and mainly from the west. Our challenge was to sail eastwards and reach Dartmouth before the tide turns at 18:00 (ebbing tide in the river is fast flowing and makes tying up more difficult)

Thursday track

Winds held steady between 10 – 15 kts and speed over ground SOG vs speed was slower with 2 kts tide against. By mid afternoon we needed to turn to pass Start Point however as you can see a poor attempt. After recovering, we gathered pace over the shallows and arrived once again with land blocking the way. Finally arrived in port at 18:00. Final day’s challenge completed successfully.

With dwindling ingredients, we enjoyed on deck an ‘all day breakfast’ and the last meagre piece of cheese. The food locker was empty.

Finally

It is now time to finish as the sun sets on the final day.

Editor’s note

The blog was prepared during the cruise. New material, photos and links will be added. In the meantime thanks for watching. Out…
