Situated in North Cumbria Fells and looking northwards to the Scottish borderlands we experience spectacular views over the Solway estuary.

The cottage is positioned in 11 acres of natural pasture, woodland and moorland. In the summer wild flowers grow in abundance and wildlife includes a wide variety of birds, deer, fox and hedgehogs.

Nesting birds include wren, blackbird, partridge, wagtail, woodpecker, great tits, sky larks, curlew and common chaffinch. Summer visitors include swallows, cuckoo, grasshopper warbler and siskins.

Trees are natural and mainly deciduous such as alder, ash, beech, bird cherry, oak  and rowan. Hedgerow blossoms with may flower, blackthorn, crab apple and holly.

Spring flowering begins with snowdrops followed by daffodils, tulips, snakes head fritillary and cowslips.
