A warm welcome to everyone and another year of the blog from yacht Liquid Asset.
Day One begins with a clean page. Be it the first brush stroke on a canvas, the first cut in a block of wood, or the first passage of a cruise, all of these actions will determine what follows… and at this stage, they are all just the imaginings of the craftsman.

To determine this first passage, we had to consider many things, and Brexit even had a part to play. However, in the end, it was just the wind direction that dominated the final decision. Not surprising really for a sailing yacht.
Steady westerlies are forecast for the first week, so our first passage is a straight heading south 180° to the Channel Islands.
Victualling is purchasing and stowing all the provisions onto the yacht. Each item is then arranged according to weight; light items higher up and heavy items placed low down below the sole (floor). All the cupboards have locks to prevent the contents falling out when the vessel is healing in choppy seas. All done.

The day ended with a ferry journey to Dartmouth and the Rockfish restaurant.

Their slogan is ‘tomorrows fish is still in the sea’. And the menu is printed on the tablecloth!
There is no WiFi out at sea. The passage is 60NM and should take 10 hours with favourable winds and neap tides. However WiFi reception may be problematic on reaching the Channel Islands. Signing off.
