Working with Nature, we set off in the dinghy to Helford village. Arriving at the pontoon was straightforward because it was early and the tide was high. Plenty of time to explore the village and hinterland.

The tide was falling, therefore we had to make a choice – a cuppa and dry feet, or lunch and muddy feet. The Holy Mackerel Café has fantastic seafood lunches. What would you do?

After a nice cuppa, we returned to the pontoon and chuckled at those teenage boys wading through the mud, dragging their dinghy behind them. Been there, done that !

At first it was fine to rest and watch others pass by. Canoeing, snorkeling, water skiing, paddle boarding, dinghy sailing, fishing, all manner of stuff in the safe waters of the River Helford. So, time to join in and row ashore to explore the rock pools. Happy days.

The forecast for the next three days is for no wind. We are stuck at the crossroads of two highs and two lows going nowhere. Calm.
We will have to be creative to sail east. Every puff of wind, every knot of tide will be treasured, day or night.
