“All t’aboard” and the dinghy heads south to the Bar. We arrived, as many others have done, onto the golden sands of Bryher called the Bar. Agapanthus on the roadside is just about to bloom, and we head up the hill to Olivia’s Kitchen to refresh and look out over to Bishop Rock Lighthouse.

Beyond the horizon, the Celtic Sea opens to the North Atlantic Ocean before hitting land again in South America !
A vast expanse of water.
The next stop is the uninhabited island of Sampson. How many years did it take to grind down the granite rocks and pebbles into the miles of golden sands.
A vast amount of time.

The windflowers on the path are in full bloom, and we head up the hill to the north summit and look out over to Bishop Rock Lighthouse. Sounds familiar.

The next stop is the inhabited island of Tresco. We landed the dinghy and tied the painter to a pole.

Once again, Tresco Abbey Gardens did not disappoint. Tropical plants and wondrous blossom spread out in profusion in every direction.
A vast variety of genus and species.

Time has run out. How many grains of sand were formed today as we wandered through the islands ?
The dinghy was released from the double sheetbend, and we navigated our way through the shallows to the anchorage. Lunar forces occasionally combine to create dramatic Spring Tides, and the channel between Tresco and Bryher is shallow enough to cross between the islands on foot.
