Sailing conditions

Morning broke as we swung rhythmically at anchor, rocking gently from side to side. A fresh breeze blew across the bay—a perfect day for sailing, yet it felt far too soon to return to Dartmouth.
This was our final day at anchor. The transition from the open sea to land-based stability was approaching fast; our minds and bodies had become thoroughly conditioned to the constant, predictable movement of the yacht.
Daytime yarn / experience
Twenty-one yachts rode at anchor across the popular bay. While a ferry plied its regular route between the beach and Plymouth, local service craft occasionally detoured past us for no apparent reason.

The anchorage was vast, the holding ground was good, and with the boat secure, we went ashore.

The Rising Sun Inn caters to locals and the lucky visitors who happen to stumble across it. The menu boasts fresh, locally caught seafood and hearty pub staples, perfectly paired with regional real ales.

Knot quiz

Helloooo, poppets! Did you manage to untangle yesterday’s clever number puzzle?
The grand answer is… the reliable Figure-of-Eight Bend!
Now, don’t let the name trick you, darlings—while figure-of-eight loop knot made a perfect little circle, today’s ‘bend’ has a totally different superpower.
Sailors use a bend when they need to tie two separate ropes together to make one giant, super-long rope!
To tie it, you make a perfect little number 8 in one rope, and then you take the second rope and make it play follow-the-leader, tracing the exact same path all the way through backwards. It is so strong, safe, and friendly that even after pulling a terribly heavy load, it never jams up. It unties just as easily as pie!
Did any of you guess this perfect team-player knot?
You are absolute superstars!
